The airline industry was taken by pleasant surprise when Singapore Airlines, Air India, and Qantas all individually announced flights to nowhere to bring some excitement to passengers who missed the joy of flying, thanks to the COVID-19-induced lockdown. However, after the former’s success, now, Qantas has announced a new campaign called ‘flights to somewhere’.

Through this new campaign, Qantas hopes to fly Australian travellers to scenic getaways around the country, especially those citizens who are unable to leave the country but are still longing for a holiday.

“We were overwhelmed with the response to our scenic flight while most border restrictions were still in place. It sold out in 10 minutes and the feedback from people on board was fantastic. Even the most frequent flyers said they had never experienced Australia from the air quite like that. And our crew loved being back on board,” said Qantas Airways Group Chief Executive, Alan Joyce according to an official press release.

On-board the first flight to somewhere, guests will experience a 24-hour getaway from Sydney to Uluru on December 5. As part of the overnight experience, they will get to witness an art exhibit in the middle of the national park, enjoy a three-course meal under the stars and interact with and hear stories from members of the Indigenous communities. Guests will also be able to enjoy an overnight stay at an upscale resort, Sails in the Desert.
