A mere announcement of this cricketing event is needed to send fans in a happy frenzy, and this year was no different. Set to begin on September 19, this year’s tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with fans cheering from miles away. Coupled with the chance to see newly retired MS Dhoni bat it out as caption of IPL team, Chennai Super Kings, the emotions this season are bound to skyrocket. Adding to the expected frenzy this year is a prediction of cricket enthusiasts flocking to mobile gaming and e-Sports platforms like Dream11—the game’s title sponsor this year.

2. Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20)

Strictly speaking, the marathon was declared cancelled this year, but with a silver lining: a virtual race. The Boston Athletic Association stated that keeping in mind prevalent social distancing norms, the competition will be held remotely with participants free to complete the race within a six-hour period in their respective destinations, provided it’s done in one continuous stretch. To add to the authenticity, players are being given printable finish lines to breakthrough at the end of the race.
