The Jammu and Kashmir Tourist Department is getting ready to add new tourist hotspots, among other upgrades they are planning to gear up for the tourist season. Here are the details.

As the tourist season befalls upon us, towns across India are gearing up for visitors. The Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department is among those prepping for the influx of tourists. One of the plans they have in place is to set up two new tourist destinations which are along the lines of Pahalgam and Gulmarg Ski Resort. As the winter sets in, this will help bring more visitors to the region, in turn helping the economy boom.

Throughout 2022, the region had over 1.6 crore tourists, which is the highest in the last few decades, now. To keep up with the demand, Director of Tourism Fazl-ul-Haseeb has said that special arrangements have been made to accommodate the rush, writes Times of India.

Among other things, what is being planned is about two-three roadshows, along with the Travel and Tourism Fair (TTF), to lure tourists into the snow-capped Kashmir Valley. Among the destinations that may be added to the list of tourist places are Yusmarg and Doodhpathri.

The activities here will include sports and adventure and will be done in collaboration with Youth Services and Sports. What’s more, reports suggest that the winter carnival this year will also be probably held in these destinations, along with ice city and other related events.
