The United Kingdom, last week, announced that it will be permitting quarantine-free entry for 60 nations under the low-risk category. The list will not include India, the US, and some other countries. The travel advisory for those wishing to travel to India from the UK remains the same, asking British nationals to avoid “all non-essential international travel.”

“The entire nation has worked tirelessly to get to this stage, therefore safety must remain our watchword and we will not hesitate to move quickly to protect ourselves if infection rates rise in countries we are reconnecting with,” said UK Transport Secretary Grant Shapps (as reported on NDTV).

Earlier, most travellers arriving in the UK from any part of the world had to undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine or self-isolation. With the new guidelines, which will go into effect from July 10 onwards, those arriving from green and amber zones can do away with the quarantine measures, while entering the country. If they are arriving through transit or are coming from non-exempt countries within a span of 14 days then the quarantine guidelines will apply to them.

The new list includes Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Italy, Germany, France who have all been in the green light category. Some Asian countries posing low risk from the deadly Coronavirus like Hong Kong, Vietnam, and Taiwan along with some other popular destinations like Seychelles, Caribbean and Mauritius have also made it to the no-quarantine list and can freely travel to the UK.
