6 Unique Things To Do In Dubai That You Can't Experience Elsewhere

Dubai can easily be termed as the ‘land of surprises’. The urban metropolis always offers something new, exciting and even whacky for you to try. Sitting just at the intersection of Western modernity and Eastern traditionalism, Dubai will never bore you. Next time you’re there, try looking for these experiences that you’ll be hard pressed to find elsewhere. By Shubhanjana Das

1. Watching The Dusk Fall While Having High Tea At Burj Khalifa

You can boast of having tea at any high-end cafe in the world, but let’s admit, nothing beats a high tea at Burj Khalifa while witnessing the stunning sundowner over the glorious land. At At.Mosphere, world’s highest restaurant at the 122nd floor of Burj Khalifa, order yourself some scones and pastries to go with the majestic view. Two things to remember though: book your table for the best view and try scheduling your trip in winters for unhindered views.

2. Witnessing A Bird’s Eye View Of The Palm Jumeirah

Dubai likes to dwell in superlatives, clearly, for the Palm Jumeirah is world’s largest man-made island. When in Dubai, you can choose either to fly over these islands (yes, we mean sky diving) or rather sit snug in a seaplane. Either ways, you will be enjoying a bird’s eye view of the palm-shaped island, with Atlantis The Palm and Dubai Creek adding to the ethereal beauty.

3. Skiing In The World’s Largest Indoor Ski Resort

The Mall of Emirates houses the largest indoor ski resort, Ski Dubai, which has a 400-m slope for skiers and snowboarders. Ski Dubai attracts kids and adults alike for its resident penguin population to say hello to! You can even camp overnight, ride the toboggan slides or the indoor chairlift and enjoy a steaming cup of hot chocolate at the cafe halfway up the slopes. This is the closest you’ll get to imitating an outdoor skiing experience in an indoor skiing resort.

4. Diving With Sharks In The Dubai Mall Aquarium

Imagine the view of a ten-million-litre water tank inside an artificial facility, populated by marine animals. What you would otherwise spend hours to spot along the coastline and end up without spotting one is right there. Remember that as much as this might be your chance of coming close to the aquatic animals, do check out their website for the possible risks it might entail. It’s not for the faint-hearted, for sure.

5. Zip-lining Through The Dubai Fountain

This one is perhaps the most exclusive experiences of them all, for it takes your luck to weigh its chances of getting selected for a ride. If you do, don’t think twice before planning your whole Dubai trip around it. What this entails is XLine zip wire ride through the heart of downtown Dubai and over the Dubai Fountain, which is the world’s largest choreographed fountain system. While everybody sees the dancing fountain from the ground, you’ll get to see it from above. If this isn’t cool, we don’t know what is!
