If you are planning to go to Goa anytime soon, not only will you be able to visit its iconic bars and restaurants but will also be spared the trouble of taking a COVID-19 test or obtaining an e-pass for inter-state travel. By Tanvi Jain

As per the latest announcement by the government of Goa, those travelling to the state will no longer have to undertake a COVID-19 test upon arrival or show a COVID-19 negative certificate now. Travellers will also not be required to possess an e-pass to drive within the state or go for home isolation.
“As per the announcements by the Govt. of Goa restrictions on inter-state travel have been removed in line with guidelines of Govt. of India. No more requirements of COVID-19 –ve report and no more test requirements for domestic travellers,” Goa Airport tweeted.

Moreover, the government has also allowed the reopening of bars and restaurants across the state, amid further ease of restrictions in the country in Unlock 4.0. “Sale of liquor for consumption on the premises of bars, restaurants and taverns has been removed from the list of restricted activities by the Government. Therefore, all licence holders whose licences are not otherwise suspended, and are already renewed for the financial year are hereby permitted to commence the sale of liquor for consumption on the premises with effect from 01-09-2020, except in containment zones and other prohibited areas as declared by the authorities,” Goa government’s order stated in reference to the guidelines issued by the MHA.

However, the above-mentioned permission comes with a list of conditions to be strictly followed by all the outlets. These include:
- The person-in-charge will have to ensure social distancing between workers, adequate gaps between shifts and a staggered staff lunch break.
- The seller and the customer both will have to wear a mask without which no sale or purchase of liquor will be allowed.
- Licensed premises will open at their usual permitted time, making sure at least six feet of social distancing between customers, availability of hand sanitisers, and proper sanitisation of all contact points.
- All employees will have to download the Aarogya Setu App.
- All premises will have to make provision of thermal screening, hand wash and sanitiser, at all entry, exit points and common areas.
- Violation of any rules set by the Government of Goa or by the MHA will be dealt under the Goa Excise Duty Act & Rules, 1964.
