It’s the best time to visit Dublin for all music lovers, as the Irish capital has opened doors of the iconic Windmill Lane Recording Studios, where legendary bands, singers and musicians like U2, The Rolling Stones, Kate Bush, The Cranberries, Hozier, Van Morrison, and Lady Gaga, have recorded some of the most popular albums.

Founded in 1978, the studio was first made famous by U2, post which many others followed suit. However, in 1988, the studio was relocated to an Art Deco on Ringsend Road in the Dublin Docklands. In 2005, the studio was bought by singer Van Morrison, and in 2009 by Pulse College who reopened the studios for commercial use. However, in 2016, the original structure covered in graffiti by U2 fans was unfortunately demolished.

Now, the studio has been re-opened for music enthusiasts to experience the audio production process. Visitors will be given an hour-long tour of the studio, during which they will not only get a chance to explore the history of the place, but will also be given an elaborate account of the entire process of audio production. Moreover, they can even try to make their own mix. There will also be an audio-visual media and creative storytelling session about the 40-year journey of music creation in the studio.

It was reportedly inaugurated by the president of Ireland Michael D Higgins, on February 27, which was followed by performances by singer Paul Brady along with Dónal Lunny.

While for adults over 16, the approximate price is INR 1,747, for kids aged 15 or below, it’s INR 1,191. Similarly, for students it’s INR 1,429, and for a family of four it’s INR 4,608. windmilllanerecording.com
