How often have we scrolled through our Instagram feed and envied all the travel bloggers who have quit their jobs to relocate to the mountains and become digital nomads? More importantly, how often have we actually come close to quitting our jobs to take the leap of faith? Well, we all know, acting on a whim has not always been the best choice! However, things are about to change for the better! Keep scrolling.

It seems like, due to the Coronavirus pandemic, this long-standing dream of moving to someplace picturesque while retaining our regular jobs may actually come true. With many places including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand lifting travel bans, city-dwellers are looking at a working summer in the hills.

Imagine walking up to bird calls, surrounded by nature and breathing the freshest of air — a literal dream come true, isn’t it? Those who’ve spent years, secretly saving mountain posts on their IG, are now looking at making the big move since most offices are not going to open and working-from-home seems to be the foreseeable future trend. So why not do it from someplace that we have lusted after, right?

Shifting work-from-home to the hills may actually work out in many people’s favour as long as we are being respectful and mindful of the surroundings, locals and strictly following state guidelines for safety and precautions. With many working people moving to the mountains temporarily, this could prove beneficial to the homestays and hotels in the region. Restaurants and other establishments too will be able to see a good source of income, especially after suffering a steep financial hit due to the pandemic.

So while we ponder over our next move and think about which ideal retreat to set our bases in for the next few months, we can all finally agree that the mountains are indeed calling!
