Accor Group’s Sofitel Sydney Wentworth organises live music for its guests to celebrate the completion of their 14-day quarantine period. By Tanvi Jain
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth struck a chord with its guests recently by arranging live music in its iconic outdoor garden terrace for the hotel’s 400 in-house quarantined guests to enjoy from their private balconies.
The guests upon completion of their 14-day mandatory government quarantine sang along to the hits of popular Sydney RNB cover band Soul Nights; with singer-songwriter Johnny Diesel; and DJ Troy T from Sound Agents. The evening performance was paired with a quintessentially-Sofitel French meal of niçoise salad, Basque-style braised chicken, and crème caramel.
The hotel team tried its level best to keep the guests happy with similar other gestures as well, such as baking a birthday cake for one of their isolated guests on his birthday, delivering the person a card and even giving him a call so as to brighten up his day. On another occasion of a quarantined couple’s 50th wedding anniversary, the hotel team created an anniversary cake.
The hotel also kept encouraging all its guests to focus on their health and wellbeing during isolation, and provided yoga mats on request for some in-room exercise.
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is one of the several Accor properties playing an essential role in the Federal Government directive to house incoming international arrivals for a mandatory 14-day quarantine period, before they go back into their communities. Till date, Accor’s Sydney hotels have quarantined 2,500 guests. The hotels are working with health authorities and following their advice on what best measures they can take to protect the safety of their team members and their guests.
The Accor Group had recently launched a series of initiatives across India and other parts of the world, to contribute in fight against COVID-19. Some of which included offering home delivery service to its quarantined customers, donating sanitizers, distributing food to the needy, offering beds for medical frontliners and homeless, releasing All Heartist Fund to give financial assistance to its employees in tough times, and also introducing Accor Employee Wellbeing and Assistance Programme, to help them deal with difficult situations.
