It is the era of free independent travel—we like to pick our destinations, plan our own itineraries, and choose the people we travel with. Mass tourism is passé. Discerning travellers no longer wish to go where everybody is going, buy the same old ‘packages’, or have run-of-the-mill experiences. Local is the new luxury, with unique, tailor-made offerings being the preference. Conscious of the importance of sustainability, the free independent traveller of today is on the lookout for the offbeat experience, even among the relatively popular ones. Take Jaipur for instance. With heritage and history at the heart of it, the Pink City offers unique as well as intimate experiences far removed from the mainstream. The Leela Palace Jaipur is one such gem. It gives you a slice of yore with a modern edge. Spread over eight acres of landscaped gardens, The Leela Palace Jaipur enjoys an enviable location on the Delhi-Jaipur highway. It is far from the cacophony of the city yet conveniently close to its attractions. The city’s buzzing bazaars, known for their textiles, arts, handicrafts, and the famous silver and gemstone markets—are a short drive away. The striking white marble facade of the property casts a lasting first impression. The little aesthetic details, like the pattern of the tiles or the beautiful chandeliers, heighten the grandeur of the setting. Infused with Leela’s signature ethos—the Indian philosophy of Atithi Devo Bhava—The Leela Palace Jaipur lives up to the expectations of its guests in multiple ways.

We are welcomed at Tulsi Mahal, the reception area inspired by traditional Indian courtyards, where a potted tulsi, or holy Indian basil, occupies pride of place. It’s a traditional Rajasthani welcome, replete with folk dancers and percussionists, followed by an aarti and tika ritual.

The property’s approach to design is interesting. It beautifully recreates different kinds of crafts that thrive in the region. From the 400-year-old craft of Thikri, the art of inlaying hand-cut mirrors into wall art or frescoes, to traditional Shekhawati paintings and silver-foil domes, you’ll find beauty in every corner.

In an ode to the bygone Rajputana era, the hotel features 200 lavishly appointed rooms, suites, and villas. Each one is defined by opulent decor, plush interiors, and local elements. The 80 villas that come with private plunge pools also offer facilities such as luxury pillows with goose down feather and specialised neck support; signature bath amenities; and express laundry service—curated and delivered by palace butlers.

A Grand Confluence of the Past and the Present

The property wears an abundance of art.

The rich, culinary experiences at The Leela Palace Jaipur are second to none. They range from traditional and royal to modern and contemporary. Mohan Mahal, the speciality Indian restaurant inspired by the famous Sheesh Mahal at Amber Fort, offers authentic Rajasthani cuisine in a candle-lit setting. Hawa Mahal is perfect for an exclusive rooftop dining experience. Preet Mahal draws its inspiration from Italian trattoria, serving traditional Italian comfort food, including pizzas, pastas, and risottos, with warm service in an elegant setting along with an al fresco area. Jharokha, the bar, is located beside the palace pool and offers a royal setting of comfort and opulence. From serving the finest selection of teas and coffees in the morning, Jharokha beautifully transforms its mood and creates an indulging atmosphere for the evening.

Choose from a range of Indian and international signature massage therapies and body scrubs.
