7 Heritage hotel near Chandigarh for the ultimate stay

Patiala’s Baradari Palace is undoubtedly the best heritage hotel in Punjab. The gorgeous white-coloured collonaded building is centred on a rectangular Sikh-Mughal style pavilion. It used to serve as the royal abode of the Maharajas of Patiala, who were known for their rich diamond wealth. The suites at the heritage hotel are interestingly named after members of the royal family. For instance, Raja Baba Ala Singh, Raja Sardul Singh, Maharani Mohinder Kaur, and so on. From here, you can visit the nearby Qila Mubarak Palace and explore its museum. If you wish to go shopping, the Adaalat Bazaar has an impressive range of beautiful handicrafts.

This heritage property was built by the Chandel Rajputs. As you arrive at the property, you are welcomed by a massive gate, which holds the Limca Book of World Records for being India’s tallest wooden door. At Fort Ramgarh, Rajput traditions unfold at every step. What’s interesting to note about the property is that it is one of the few heritage hotels in India that serve only vegetarian food and no liquor. Facilities at the hotel include a splash pool, multi-gym, and a restaurant. The rooms are divided into three categories. These are Vintage Room, Royal Room, and Royal Suite. All rooms come with modern facilities like television, shower bath, hot water, air conditioner, tea maker etcetera.

The fort was built by Raja Bikram Chand of Nalagarh in 1421. Located at the foothills of the Himalayas, the fort stands as a fine specimen of the Mughal style of architecture. The 20-acre property is dotted with serene forests, lovely orchards, and well-manicured lawns. Every room here offers garden views. Perched atop a hillock on the foothills of the Himalayas, the fort offers stunning views of the Shivalik Hills and the gurgling Sirsa River. The fort boasts a series of structures that conform to the Mughal style of architecture, with occasional use of Hindu elements and British architecture.
