After Mumbai Central railway station, Chennai Airport is home to sleeping pods. These pod-rooms or pod-hotels allow travellers a place to unwind for the night (or while they are in transit). Here are the details. By Anushka Goel
Travelling can be tiring, even when you’ve booked overnight trains or airplanes that allow for a restful sleep. The fact that you are in a new place that is moving, combined with the stress of being up on time to be able to deboard, as well as the anticipation of waking up in a new place, all adds to the nerves. And let’s face it – airports and railway stations don’t make for the most comfortable sleeping destinations when in transit, and at times, hotels are either too far or too costly for a couple of hours’ restful sleep.
To combat that, the Chennai International Airport has launched sleeping pods in the domestic terminal, to allow transiting travellers a comfortable place to spend the night in!

According to reports, these sleeping pods have been set up by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), and are located at the arrival hall of the domestic terminal. The facility, called ‘Sleepzo’, features four bed-sized capsules near baggage belt no. 1, and will allow transiting passengers to get some rest.
The facility can be availed at an hourly basis, and features amenities such as reading lights, a charging station, USB charger, luggage space, ambient light, blower control, and a plush, comfortable bed. These pods can accommodate one adult and a child, as long as they are aged below 12, The Hindu quoted a release as saying. This is the latest such facility in India, which is home to several capsule hotels already.
