Istanbul may be thousands of years old, but the city is firmly grounded in the present. It’s a bustling metropolis and the meeting point of two continents constantly evolving and buzzing with activity. And the city’s luxe hospitality industry is a prime example of that. The banks of its most famous natural landmark, the Bosphorus, already lined up with five-star properties, are about to welcome a new noteworthy addition: The Peninsula Istanbul. By Dobrina Zhekova

Located in the new Galataport district, home to some of Istanbul’s best museums, the waterfront property will consist of four historic buildings, three of which date back to the early 1900s.

Here’s a look inside the new luxury hotel in Istanbul

The hotel will officially open on February 14, 2023 (Valentine’s Day in Istanbul, anyone?) with unobstructed water views, lush gardens, a private boat deck, 177 rooms and suites, a spa, and a massive rooftop restaurant and bar seating 350 people. Many of the guest rooms will have floor-to-ceiling windows with balconies and spectacular Bosphorus views, custom furnishings, original artworks, and decor showcasing the best of modern Turkish design. But the property’s claim to fame will be the Peninsula Suite, an opulent 5,490-square-foot space with its own hammam, gym, and rooftop swimming pool.

Echoing the city’s rich culinary heritage and unique location, The Peninsula Istanbul will feature a rooftop restaurant and bar serving Turkish-Asian fare and drinks. The hotel’s lobby eatery will offer a range of international flavours, along with The Peninsula’s signature afternoon tea in a bright and airy (the space has 28-foot ceilings) dining room.

Travellers looking to stay active during their stay will have plenty of options, from 24-hour in-room access to workout and mindfulness classes via the hotel’s digital wellness portal to the fully equipped gym and an 82-foot outdoor swimming pool. A sprawling 18,000-square-foot spa with eight treatment rooms, hammams, and an indoor pool round out the new five-star amenities.

Regular Peninsula guests will also be happy to find some of the brand’s signature services, including early check-in and late checkout (dubbed Peninsula Time) and a 24-hour digital concierge.

We have spent a lot of time and effort to meticulously restore this beautiful property on the Bosphorus and we look forward to welcoming locals and visitors alike to experience our world-renowned Peninsula hospitality,” said Clement Kwok, managing director and CEO of The Hongkong and Shanghai Hotels, Limited, owner and operator of The Peninsula Hotels, in a press release.

Reservations are now open at The Peninsula Istanbul, and travellers can take advantage of an exclusive opening offer of EUR 1,050 (INR 85,763) that includes complimentary daily breakfast for two and airport pickup for all suite reservations, among other perks.
