A year after making its long-awaited debut, Sir Richard Branson’s private Moskito Island, within the British Virgin Islands, is adding another lavish estate to its roster of over-the-top accommodations. By D

On 3.5 scenic acres on the island’s westernmost tip, The Village Estate boasts 18,100 square feet with state-of-the-art amenities, nine spacious bedrooms, and breathtaking views of the Caribbean Sea. Seven of the suites are housed in standalone buildings, but all feature en-suite bathrooms, large living rooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and private patios. The most impressive of them is the two-story master suite designed in a circular loop and boasting a 360-degree wraparound terrace. The cottage-like buildings housing the suites have thatched roofs that harmoniously blend with the lush landscape.

Here’s a look inside the lavish Caribbean estate

“A decade in the making, The Village Estate takes luxury to new heights, much like its sister estates, with an impressively striking design, state-of-the-art creative amenities, and unspoiled panoramic views in the most private of settings,” Jon Brown, managing director at Virgin Limited Edition, said in a statement released to Travel + Leisure. “Moskito Island knows no limit when it comes to providing incomparable, luxurious moments, and adding The Village to our collection further amplifies our position as the leaders of luxury in the Caribbean.”

At the heart of the estate is the main house, which sits atop a hill and serves as the property’s entertaining hub. A spiral staircase wrapped in audio-synced LED lighting that moves to the beat of music connects the house’s bar to its rooftop. Guests will probably spend most of their time by the expansive palm tree–lined, two-level infinity pool, which features a submerged dry lounge with a fire pit, a swim-up bar, and a slide. Music and clubbing enthusiasts will also love the DJ booth that rises from the deck. A cantilevered glass-bottomed hot tub that extends over the cliff edge is also in the works.

And if that’s not enough to keep travellers entertained, the Village also has a state-of-the-art gym, a home cinema, a pizza oven, and an organic kitchen garden, from which the estate’s chefs source freshly harvested produce to prepare meals. To top it all off, visitors also have full access to Moskito Island’s other luxe amenities: two tennis courts, a water sports centre, entertaining and movie areas, restaurants, and a fully serviced private beach.
