India’s iconic Jaipur Literature Festival is ready to take its host of art, music and literature experiences overseas, and unravel itself amidst the blue lagoons of the Maldives with the upcoming JLF Soneva Fushi. We tell you more about this inspiring debut. By Bayar Jain
The Jaipur Literature Festival has enthralled literary lovers and art aficionados for long. And now, the show is ready to set sail to Maldives with JLF Soneva Fushi.
Come May 2022, the Maldives’ Baa Atoll will see its maiden edition of JLF Soneva Fushi. Set against an idyllic backdrop in a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, this luxury resort has partnered with Teamwork Arts, the festival’s producer, to bring this union to life. The turquoise waters and rainforest views at the resort accompany irrespective.
JLF Soneva Fushi will be a study in Slow Life, where the wonders of nature will ignite imagination. Mornings here will begin with yoga and meditation sessions on powder-soft beaches, while nights will end with thought-provoking movie screenings at the open-air Cinema Paradiso or live performances under star-studded skies.
Spread across 10 days and two weekends, JLF Soneva Fushi will bring South Asia’s vibrant literary legacy to life. An exceptional global line-up of acclaimed authors and thinkers are expected to make up the stimulating panels, workshops, book readings, film screenings, and more. Humanitarians, business leaders, and entertainers, too, are expected to grace the festivities. This list includes award-winning author Namita Gokhale; Italian-American writer André Aciman; celebrated historian Peter Frankopan; columnist and novelist Shobhaa De; author and politician Dr Shashi Tharoor; and celebrated author and festival co-director William Dalrymple, amongst others. Fiction, travel, food, art, and wellness will cosy alongside climate change, nature, and environment—in line with the brand’s overarching sustainable hospitality motto.
The expansive private villa accommodation at Soneva Fushi—complete with a private Barefoot Butler to tend to every need—will accentuate the fun. Choose from one-bedroom hideaways to a nine-bedroom sanctuary, each space will come tailored for every discerning traveller. The delectable dining destinations showcasing world cuisine coupled with one-of-a-kind experiences and activities will add to the enriching time.
What’s more—every stay at Soneva Fushi includes complimentary signature details. From access to the renowned chocolate, ice cream and cheese parlours to an exciting programme of children’s activities at The Den, the region’s largest children’s zone, Soneva Fushi has it all.
