A 5-Day Definitive Itinerary To Experience Sri Lanka Like A True Local

Since you will arrive first in the capital, Colombo, spend some time exploring the city. Visit the National Museum of Colombo, the Gangaramaya Temple, the Independence Memorial Hall, and other heritage spots.


Reserve the second day for exploring Galle. Here, you can enjoy scuba diving, snorkelling, and other watersports at Unawatuna Beach. Learn about the history of the Galle Fort, the Dutch Lighthouse, and the Dutch Reformed Church. Shop at its boutiques, stop by a café, or head out on a cycling tour of the area.


Spend your third day in the central hill-station of Kandy, where you will learn about the royalty that once ruled this land. Sightseeing spots include the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, the Kandy Lake, the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, and the Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue. Don’t miss out on a walk through the Udawattakele Forest Reserve.
