Almost 190 (and counting) days after the first national lockdown was imposed in India and we were asked to stay indoors for the following months due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the country and its states are slowly reopening borders now, one after the other, with relaxed travel restrictions much to our delight. Read on to know which Indian destinations you can now travel to without having to worry about COVID-19 regulations. By Amitha Ameen

As India is currently sailing through Unlock 5.0, several destinations in the country are reopening for tourists in a phased manner. Dreary travellers now have a reason to rejoice as it seems like those carefree pre-COVID-19 days are once again making a comeback. Here are a few destinations in India that you can now travel to without having to worry about too many restrictions. But of course, it is wise to follow precautions while visiting any place and have the government recommended Arogya Setu app downloaded while heading to any destination.

1. Goa

The sunny coastal beach town is welcoming travellers back with open arms, and visitors are not required to undergo any COVID-19 testing or mandatory quarantine while visiting the state.

2. Himachal Pradesh

If the mountains are calling, now is the time to head there. Full of alpine meadows, snow-capped peaks, and stunning valleys, the state is a welcome respite for many travellers who look forward to getting away from the concrete jungles. Tourists arriving in the state will not have to undergo quarantine.

Heavily influenced by the French aesthetics, the coastal union territory is filled with quaint and colourful houses, Bougainville covered streets with French names, and cute cafes that whip up delicious seafood; Puducherry is welcoming visitors without a COVID-19 test and quarantine requirements. Incase someone tests positive while there, they will need to immediately report to a government-run hospital.

Mountain lovers can now head to Uttarakhand without a COVID-19 negative test report or quarantine restrictions. But visitors will be required to register themselves on the government portal before arriving there.

5. Arunachal Pradesh

Been wanting to visit the North East? Travellers are now allowed to enter the state of Arunachal Pradesh but inter-state travellers will be required to test for the virus at the entry points. Negative and asymptomatic travellers can carry on and enjoy the vacation while practising COVID-19 precautions.

6. Gujarat

Gujarat is now welcoming visitors to the state and travellers will be required to undergo thermal screening on arrival. Asymptomatic travellers will not be required to quarantine here.

Planning a trip to Ladakh anytime soon? If your trip to the mountain region is under five days then you can skip the quarantine by just providing a negative RT-PCR test result that is not older than 96 hours.

Domestic passengers who are asymptomatic will not be required to undergo quarantine upon arrival in the state.
