1. Fiji

Diwali in Fiji Islands is celebrated with as much enthusiasm as India. Fiji has a declared National Holiday on the day of Diwali. The schools in Fiji Islands organise quizzes and rangoli making competitions to make the students aware of the significance of the Festival of Lights. The festival is celebrated with solidarity and warmth in the islands with people from different cultural backgrounds participating in the festivities.

2. Mauritius

The Indian crowd in Mauritius leaves no stone unturned to welcome the Goddess of wealth into their homes. The paradise island is lit with candles, earthen lamps, and electric lights illuminating the streets. The festivities are enjoyed during a span of five days.

3. Malaysia

In this mainly Islamic country, Diwali is celebrated with full aplomb. The local street shops are lined with traditional apparels, spices, religious essentials etc. Hindus in the country take the auspicious oil bath in the morning before going to the temple. It is also known as Hari Diwali in Malaysia; since fireworks and crackers are banned in the country, colorful rangolis and lights celebrate the spirit of Diwali. Something we totally endorse!

Little India in Singapore is the place if you want to see real Diwali fever outside India. This place in Singapore will blow your mind with all the festival extravaganzas. The UK, with a large desi community settled there, is no longer left behind in celebrating Diwali in all its glory. Celebrations in Birmingham need special mention. There special display of festive lights instead of fireworks.

10. Canada

With a large Indian population settled in Canada, Diwali is celebrated at a massive scale.  Corporate dinners, Diwali parties and special guests from Bollywood are invited to the series of Diwali related events. And with Justin Trudeau lighting the lamp, we ain’t complaining!
