Starting July 7, Dubai will once again bustle with life as the Emirate prepares to reopen its tourist attractions for international travellers. Catering to their tourists’ needs, however, has always been a priority. The post-COVID-19 world will be no different. Keeping the new travel protocols in mind, Dubai has released clear steps to ensure a safe and seamless trip. Ahead of landing here, visitors will be required to take a PCR test up to 96 hours prior to their arrival. Alternatively, they can even get tested upon arrival at Dubai airport. That aside, a health declaration form, travel insurance, and an understanding of the country’s travel advisories will be mandatory as well. Should a tourist test positive, the procedures mandated by the COVID-19 Command and Control Centre, including institutional quarantine, home quarantine or hospitalisation would be strictly imposed.

Speaking about this reopening, Issam Kazim, CEO of Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DCTCM), remains positive. He says, “As we look forward to welcoming tourists to Dubai in July, the new travel guidelines reinforce our commitment to not only provide visitors a well-rounded destination experience but also ensure their health and safety and that of all communities within the city.”
To ascertain their focus on safety and wellbeing of tourists, Dubai has also been granted the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) Safe Travels stamp. This stamp, considered the world’s first ever global safety and hygiene stamp – serves as a means to allow travellers to recognise governments and businesses that have adopted globally standardised protocols of hygiene. Backed by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO), this stamp is generally given to eligible businesses such as hotels, restaurants, cruise lines, airlines, shopping centres etc.
Speaking about this accreditation for Dubai, His Excellency Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General, Dubai’s Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Dubai Tourism), says, The WTTC’s Safe Travels stamp endorses Dubai’s strong global cooperation in combating the pandemic with comprehensive and effective measures to ensure guest health and safety. We trust that our efforts not only provide an optimised experience for our visitors, but also secure their health and that of their families, further cementing the confidence that our guests have had thus far in Dubai, and encouraging people from every corner of the world to visit one of the safest cities in the world this summer.”
