Imagine sitting in an igloo made of glass in the middle of snowclad Kashmir while enjoying a delicious meal. Sounds like a dream, doesn’t it? But this has become a reality in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). A hotel has opened the first glass igloo restaurant in India, letting people enjoy food with a picturesque view. Here’s all you need to know about this new tourist attraction.
Gulmarg is one of the most popular destinations in India where people like to enjoy winter at its best. With the town covered in snow during the months of December to February, the hill station, with its breathtaking views, becomes an ideal destination for a trip if you love cold weather. People flock to this town for skiing, snowboarding or for simply to enjoy the snow. The recently opened glass igloo restaurant, by Kolahoi Green Heights hotel, is receiving a lot of buzz for its unique concept, offering travellers a breathtaking dining experience.
The general manager of the hotel, Hamid Masoodi, in a conversation with the news agency ANI, shared that he wishes to promote winter tourism through this new concept. He mentioned, “We are always trying to bring new concepts to Gulmarg to promote winter tourism and this year we have launched an igloo glass concept for a restaurant.”
The same hotel made the biggest snow igloo in Asia last year, bringing many tourists to Gulmarg to witness the attraction. Masoodi also added that they took inspiration from Finland to build this restaurant.

Each igloo comes with a heating arrangement, and a dining table along with chairs and cutlery, just like a proper restaurant.
