The Airports Authority of India has recently released a new set of guidelines for those planning to fly to Goa, which includes mandatory institutional quarantine for symptomatic passengers.

“Passengers flying to Goa must adhere to these quarantine guidelines. As per the new directives, all arriving passengers shall be required to go for 14 days of Home Quarantine or they can opt for 14 days of paid Institutional Quarantine,” it tweeted.

However, you can be exempted from home quarantine if you are able to produce a valid COVID-19 negative certificate by a valid ICMR approved lab not older than two days prior to arrival. Another option is that if you go for a swab test of INR 2,000 and agree to remain in institutional or home quarantine until the results are out.

Those opting for home quarantine will have to pre-book the accommodations which include hotels registered with the department of tourism. The booking proof along with details of the entire stay period will be checked at entry points. You will also have to undergo screening at the entry point and those showing any kind of sickness or COVID-19 related symptoms will have to take a self-paid Coronavirus test at a designated centre.

If you are carrying COVID-19 negative certificate then you will be allowed to move to the booked accommodation, otherwise, you will have to undergo a test for the same, and will have to self-isolate till the results are out. The accommodation unit will have to arrange for the isolation facility. If the result is negative then you can give up isolation, but if it’s positive, the accommodation unit will have to take action as per the state health department protocol.

You’ll be solely responsible for all costs — from testing fees to the money charged by the isolation or quarantine facilityIf you want to change the booking during your stay in Goa, you can do so only with accommodation units registered with the department of tourism, provided you show a re-booking proof. Furthermore, you are required to download the Aarogya Setu app so as to monitor your health or submit a self-declaration form.
