Holi is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than indulging in all sorts of delicious food items. Here’s a list of our top nine favourite Holi delicacies that we can’t wait to dig into!

The sweet Indian dumpling filled with coconut crumbs, mawa and dry fruits, and encased in a golden pastry crust is a cult favourite. Popularly known as Karanji in Maharashtra and Karnataka, it is a constant in all Holi celebrations. Gujiya can also be customised with rose, chocolate or Gulkand fillings.

This popular snack could be sweet or savoury based on your preference. The sweet variant is called Shakkar Para and the salty variant is known as Namak para. It is essentially made of fried wheat dough peppered with lots of sugar or salt. A perfect mid-day snack, it goes very well with tea.

7. Puran Poli

A sweet flatbread made of flour, jaggery, chana dal, spices and ghee is served typically in all Maharashtrian households on the occasion of Holi. The dish is quite popular in South India, too (under different names)!
