India’s very first tiger reserve hot air balloon safari is now operational in Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve, Madhya Pradesh. The activity will remain restricted to the buffer area, and visitors will be able to watch tigers, leopards, Indian sloth bears and many other wild animals in their natural habitat from a height.

Not only will this make for a unique experience for travellers, but it will also be safe for reserve habitats. Since the activity will minimise human interference into the natural habitat and offer a fresh perspective to visitors, it comes across as a win-win strategy for both parties.
As reported by Tribune India, Madhya Pradesh’s Forest Minister Vijay Shah, while talking to the media said, “One more adventure has been added for tourists coming to Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve with the launch of the hot air balloon wildlife safari. It is the first in any tiger reserve in the country. Now, like [the African forests], tourists in India will also enjoy hot air balloon wildlife safari.”

The Forest Minister also mentioned that this brand-new initiative is a result of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s vision of Buffer Mein Safar. He further added that the state may also consider introducing these services in Pench, Kanha and Panna Tiger Reserve.
Jaipur-based hot air balloon operators SkyWaltz Balloon Safari is implementing these services in Madhya Pradesh. SkyWaltz Balloon Safari is India’s first fully licensed balloon operator and a government-approved commercial hot air balloon operator.
