#TnlLockdownSeries: Our Reader Reveals What Lockdown In Bhopal Has Taught Her

T+L reader Shalini Singh loves photography. While she’s not able to document her travel diaries due to the COVID19 situation, she surely is not missing any opportunity to photograph her neighbourhood in Bhopal and all the birds she’s watching from her window. She tells us what the lockdown has taught her. By Pallavi Phukan

What were your first thoughts when the lockdown was put in motion?

I am a freelancer who works from home, so I knew my daily schedule wouldn’t be too affected by the Lockdown. However, my first thoughts were about our staff and how will they manage without work.

What’s that one thing that this lockdown has taught you?

To live in the present and to not take anything for granted — be it our staff, our homes, the food we eat, and most importantly, our health. And I am very grateful that this has allowed all of us to pause, reflect and introspect.

How are you maintaining positivity in these times?

My dogs are keeping me sane. Their feeding and walking schedule gives my days some semblance of structure. I am also trying out different kinds of exercises at home to stay fit. My advice to T+L readers would be to try out some meditation apps, some of them are really helpful in times such as these.

Where would you like to travel to once this situation is over?

I really wanted to go to Portugal this year.
