In light of the second wave in India, many countries like the United Kingdom, UAE, Kuwait, Indonesia, Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, and New Zealand have banned flights from India, for the time being. Other countries like France has declared mandatory quarantine for passengers arriving from India. The United States Centers for Disease Control (CDC), on the other hand, has advised against any travel to India. As reported by Money Control, “Travellers should avoid all travel to India… Because of the current situation, even fully vaccinated travellers may be at risk for getting and spreading COVID-19 variants and should avoid all travel to India,” the advisory said for US passengers.

Here’s a list of country-wise bans and restrictions upon travel to and from India.

Canada

Canada has temporarily banned all passenger flights from India for 30 days starting April 22. However, the ban does not apply to cargo flights.

France

While France has not banned international flights from India, it has introduced a mandatory 10-day quarantine for all incoming passengers.

Hong Kong

Hong Kong has also banned all international travel from India till May 3. The decision came in after 47 passengers on a flight from Delhi tested positive upon arrival.

Indonesia

Indonesia has stopped issuing visas for all foreigners who have been in India in the last 14 days. Indonesia put the curb after 12 passengers on a chartered flight from Chennai carrying 129 people tested positive on arrival. Indonesia will, however, allow its citizens to return from India with strict health screening and mandatory quarantine.

Kuwait

Kuwait has suspended all direct commercial flights from India starting April 24. Kuwait has also banned all passengers coming from India either directly or via another country. Only those who have spent 14 days out of India can seek entry to Kuwait. Freight flights can continue to operate as usual.

New Zealand

After not reporting any local cases for about 40 days, New Zealand found 23 new COVID-19 positive cases. Coincidentally, 17 of them happened to be from India. After the incident, the country banned inflow of travellers from India. As of now, the ban will be in effect till April 28.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE)

The UAE has also banned international travel from India from April 25. All Indian citizens and any international traveller who has been to India in the last 14 days cannot seek entry into the Emirate from any international destination. Like many other countries, UAE has also excluded UAE nationals and diplomats from the ban.
