Everything You Need To Know About Deepika And Ranveer's Italian Wedding Venue

The wedding everyone has been excitedly waiting for is finally taking place at the iconic Villa del Balbianello in Lake Como, Italy. The two-day #DeepVeer wedding is scheduled for November 14 and 15, and here’re all the details you need to know about the stunning venue. By Nitya Malik

The preparations of the most awaited wedding of the year has already begun in Italy. Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh are getting married at the Villa del Balbianello on Lake Como on November 14 and 15.

This authentically Italian locales of Como is already renowned as the au courant ‘It’ wedding destination. With Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma’s wedding happening there last year, and the Ambanis’ hosting their daughter’s engagement party in Lake Como, the region has garnered much media attention in the last few months.

Let’s be honest. Lake Como is indeed one of the most alluring destinations in Italy. Relaxing, peaceful, it has everything — history, scenic landscapes, beautiful architecture — and is the picture perfect romantic destination to host a fairytale wedding.

The plush Villa del Balbianello located on Lake Como is one on the most favoured and posh places for a destination wedding. With a beautiful view of the western shore of Lake Como, this venue has not only played host to high profile weddings, but is an equally popular location for fashion and film shoots including Star Wars and Bond films.

Enjoying mesmerising views, this 18th-century residence and its expansive gardens have also hosted several authors and travellers alike, and is one of the most beautiful residences of this part.

Balbianello was founded by Cardinal Durini, a writer, who in the 18th century chose this property as his retreat; only to be recovered later by Guido Monzino who was a passionate traveller (and the first Italian to climb the Everest), besides being an entrepreneur who made the villa his ‘shelter’ in 1974. Even today, the villa houses Monzino’s collection of maps, travel tools, books, and collectibles including souvenirs of his adventures at the Museum of Expeditions. FAI has been managing the villa since 1988, and it’s the most visited space by tourists among all the 52 FAI-run properties.

One needs to access this very exclusive property by boat, and the villa provides a 360° view of the lake. Depending on the guest list at the wedding, one can either get married on the terraces or the loggia. While the Villa del Balbianello rentals are based on the number of guests and areas used, wedding breakfasts and dinners are planned only when the villa is closed to public. And just so you know, each chair that you might need as a part of the wedding decor at the venue will set you back by over Rs. 1,000 as rental charges per chair!

So get set for one of the most luxurious destination weddings and one that’ll surely cost #DeepVeer a fortune. But hell, what’s a wedding without band baaja, right, and if it’s a place as beautiful as the Balbianello, you count money no more!
