The little Portuguese island of Madeira is all set to reopen to tourists in the most attractive way possible. Read on to know more. By Amitha Ameen

Situated right in the middle of Atlantic, this lush and enviable island along with its sister island of Porto Santo is all set to welcome tourists from July 1 onwards. And the best part is that the island authorities have announced that they will pay for tourists to take a Coronavirus test after their arrival on the island.
Considered one of the most beautiful European islands, Madeira is full of culture and offers endless possibilities for the discerning traveller. From its world-famous namesake wine to breathtaking hiking trails, exotic fruits, and amazing seafood, there are a plethora of activities and experiences that can woo any traveller.

With the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, the archipelago had issued orders of mandatory confinement along with restrictions of entry via airports. But all that is about to change as Madeira announced that not only will it eliminate mandatory isolation on June 2 but it will also pay for all costs of tests undertaken by visitors upon arrival.
At the same time, these tests can be avoided if passengers are able to present a PCR test showing the negative results, taken in the last 72 hours before landing.

Additionally, the island is taking extreme measures to position itself as a COVID-19 free destination and is also ensuring safety practices across the island to minimise and if not eliminate risks.
