It seems like even COVID-19 couldn’t stop Santa Claus from doing his duties and distributing gifts to those of us who made it to the ‘good’ list this year. If you didn’t already know, there exists an actual Santa Claus Village in Lapland that is home to the legendary and much-loved Santa Claus. Located on the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi, Lapland the Santa Claus Village is gearing up to reopen for tourists from November 8 onwards as part of its grand opening of Christmas Season 2020 that takes place every year.

What better way to bring in Christmas celebrations than by hanging out with the man of the hour himself accompanied by elves and even a reindeer-driven sleigh. The Santa Claus Village is open all days of the week and one can head there by landing at the Rovaniemi airport and thereafter, board bus number eight or the Santa Express, which departs from the city centre, every hour.

From witnessing the northern lights to riding a reindeer or husky led sleigh, or from going for some ice-fishing to skiing — there’s certainly no dearth to the number of activities you can indulge in while here. If you want to take it easy, we suggest getting yourself a delicious cup of hot chocolate and visiting Santa’s post office where you can write a letter to a loved one and even hang out with Santa himself.
