With the overdose of information on Coronavirus circulating on the web, it can get a tad bit overwhelming and that is why we have some good news for you. Tel Aviv is all set to reopen its leisure businesses for the public. Read on to know which businesses made it to the green list. By Amitha Ameen
In a bid to help local businesses in the city in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis, the Tel Aviv-Yafo Municipality has announced that it will reopen restaurants, bars, beaches, and cafes in the next few weeks.

Tel Aviv city Mayor, Ron Huldai said that these businesses are the ‘beating heart’ of the city’s economy and that clear and precise instructions have been given to authorities to leave no stone unturned when it comes to helping these businesses find a footing again.

The municipality has communicated with the city’s 115 business owners and offered to allow them to expand their usage of public space, free of cost, so they can comply with and effortlessly follow the social distancing norms while hosting customers. Additionally, the Municipality has placed 1,000 chairs and umbrellas in central plazas to encourage people to opt for takeaway’s and also announced that 11 sections of the city will be closed for vehicular traffic and converted into pedestrian lanes, in order to encourage trade and economic activity.

The city has also re-opened 10 beaches that have been declared safe as the municipality has made necessary preparations in line with the Health Ministry’s guidelines. “After many weeks of closure, and especially in light of the heatwave we are experiencing, the people of Israel need a bit of air. The beaches offer healthy and safe entertainment for the public and for an affordable price,” said Mayor Huldai.
As per reports from WHO, Israel currently has 16,809 confirmed cases of which 14,602 have recovered and 284 deaths have been reported.
