According to a statement by the Indian Embassy in Nepal, Indian nationals who wish to travel to Nepal in the future via air routes no longer need to obtain No Objection Certificates (NOC) to travel to third countries. This rule, however, only applies if the traveller possesses an Indian passport with a clear immigration stamp, states the official website. Travellers entering via any other route or using any other identification proof will not be exempted. Interestingly, this new rule is currently applicable only till June 19, 2021.

In simple words, a NOC is a legal document obtained from the Nepalese government, agency, organisation, institute, or even individuals. Ordinarily, Indian nationals working or staying in Nepal can obtain a NOC by applying to the Embassy and submitting copies of the ticket and visa, passport size photographs, and a fee of NPR 1,020 (INR 636). After submitting the documents, the embassy would then require three working days to issue the NOC. With this new travel update, this step is no longer required, provided the traveller is journeying by air.

As per the official embassy website, immigration authorities at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu are already informed about this change and will help facilitate the travel of Indian nationals to third countries. Should anyone require any assistance, one can contact authorities at +9779851107021, notes the website.
