As travel lovers, we find connections of being on-the-go in every sphere of life. The latest to join this bandwagon of our wandering opportunities is director Mahesh Bhatt’s upcoming thriller, Sadak 2. Literally translating to ‘road’, this multi-starrer movie is expected to take us on a journey of love, redemption, and courage, all while being backdropped by these stunning destinations. When a movie translates to the road, you can safely expect picturesque locations dotted throughout the film. Directed by Mahesh Bhatt, Sadak 2 is a sequel of the 1991 movie of the same name. While the previous film’s star cast Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt will be seen in this version as well, they will be accompanied by Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. Slated to release on Hotstar on August 28, 2020, this thriller traces the journey of a man, Ravi (Dutt) dealing with depression while simultaneously helping a young woman (Bhatt) expose a fake god-man. While intense, the beautiful shoot locations are expected to ease the ride. Take a look at where the upcoming movie was shot. And, we are hoping to catch a glimpse of our favourite spots in these destinations!
1. Ooty, Tamil Nadu

Last year, Alia Bhatt took to Instagram to share a snippet of her shoot in Ooty, reports The Times of India. Short for Udhagamandalam, this resort town is replete with lush green gardens and glimpses of India’s colonial past—both of which could help set the stage for the movie. Considering the movie is heavy on ‘journey’, we’re hoping to see the famous Ooty Toy Train in the frames. Some of our other favourites of this town include Emerald Lake, Avalanche Lake, Stone House (a 19th-century residence) and St Stephen’s Church.
2. Mumbai, Maharashtra

Any Bollywood movie is incomplete without a cameo of the nation’s Film Capital, particularly if it has a seemingly dark storyline. Sadak 2 is believed to have done a fair share of their filming in this megacity. When portraying negative characters, makers often resort to slums such as Dharavi or Juhu for primary shooting. Filmmaker’s favourite, Madh Islands, too, tend to show up in movies of similar plots. Having said that, what’s a movie without a glimpse of the iconic Marine Drive?
3. Mysuru, Karnataka

While it’s hard to predict when this location will be visible during the movie, we’re hoping we get a glimpse of the gorgeous Mysore Palace—the seat of the former ruling Wodeyar dynasty—especially when it twinkles in all its glory at night. That aside, the city’s colourful Brindavan Gardens or calm Kukkarahalli Lake could double as beautiful outdoor locations.
4. Mount Kailash, Uttarakhand

The poster shows the three lead stars walking towards the mighty Mount Kailash in Uttarakhand. In fact, a tweet by the director launching the poster even hints at the possibility of this destination playing a pivotal part in the movie by calling it a place where “humanity has found shelter and comfort.” As wanderers, we’re itching to see this tourist-favourite mountain come onto the big screen. This ancient pilgrimage spot is renowned for its challenging treks. Five monasteries, a pristine Manasarovar lake, and starry skies complete the surreal beauty here.
