We believe that movies are a great source for travel inspiration. Be it increasing trips to Spain after watching Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara or heading out to Goa after repeat shows of Dil Chahta Hai, films and series have played an important role in travel.

We often turn to the screens when looking for new places to visit, and Netflix is one such platform. Whether it be a rom-com or a travel documentary, the stories are set in stunning backdrops and scenic destinations, making one want to pack their bags and explore these places themselves. So, in case you, too, are wondering where you can go for your next soul-searching trip, might we suggest you watch these shows and movies on Netflix and chalk out your travel plans in India for the year!

Netflix inspired travel destinations for the wanderer in you

Mismatched – Jaipur

Rajasthan is home to beautiful forts, hilly terrains, and colourful markets. The state, with its vast culture, is a hub for travellers – both Indian and international. Capturing this beauty is Mismatched. The series, which focuses on the love story of Rishi and Dimple in a college setting, has been shot in locations across Jaipur and Jodhpur. If you’re intrigued, visit places such as Gopal Bari in Jodhpur and Vijayran Palace and Alsisar Haveli in Jaipur to be in the locations the series was shot. Apart from these, Jodhpur has the beautiful Mehrangarh Fort and several other havelis, while Jaipur is home to popular destinations such as Amer Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal and more. Oh, and, both these cities offer some vibrant markets and a delightful culinary culture that will allow you to experience Rajasthan as a whole!

Yeh Kaali Kaali Ankhein is a dark humour starring Tahir Raj Bhasin and Shweta Tripathi Sharma. The series has been shot in various locations across the country, from Mumbai to Ladakh. One of them, where a major portion has been shot, is Madhya Pradesh. The series features Bhopal with its beautiful lakes and rich architecture. What’s also seen in the series is the banks of river Narmada, Omkareshwar Temple and other centures-old locations that make for a truly visual treat. If visiting Bhopal, do see the lakes, Moti Masjid, Udayagiri Caves, and Sanchi Stupa.

Little Things Season 4 – Alleppey, Munnar and Kochi

Little Things Season 4, available on Netflix India, is a simple, sweet, romantic story. The series features Dhruv Sehgal and Mithila Palkar. The couple is in Kerala for this season, exploring places such as Munnar, Kochi and Alleppey. If visiting, be sure to explore the backwaters, churches, temples, waterfalls, beaches and museums at Allapuzha, refreshing tea estates at Munnar, and churches, dams and parks in Kochi. Do not forget to sample local Kerala delicacies such as fish curry and various stews.
