We get it, you are yearning to visit Paris, but unfortunately, it is not possible right now to physically travel. However, in this digital time and age, lockdowns cannot keep us away from taking #DreamEscapes to our favourite destinations. Here’s a list of shows on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Hotstar that will virtually transport you to Paris. By Kumar Shree

1. Call My Agent! on Netflix

The movie portrays the struggles and daily on-goings at ASK, one of Paris’ biggest talent agencies. The film celebrates the beautiful ‘behind the scenes’ world of cinema, and the stellar cast consisting of Isabelle Adjani, Monica Bellucci and Isabelle Huppert makes it a delight to watch.

2. Chef’s Table: France on Netflix

The Netflix Original documentary series honours the unseen lives and kitchens of some of the greatest chefs ever. The season that celebrates France lets you peek into the work of chef Alain Passard, who owns and operates L’Arpège, a three Michelin-star vegetarian fine-dining restaurant in the city of love. It also lets you into the world of another culinary stalwart — Adeline Grattard, who is the chef and co-owner at Yam’Tcha in Paris.

3. I Lost My Body on Netflix

The animated movie is a delightful concoction of romance, mystery and adventure. It is the story of a severed hand who got separated from ‘its body’ of a pizza delivery man called Naoufel. The first animated feature to win the Grand Prize at Critics’ Week at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival is an adaptation of the novel Happy Hand by screenwriter Guillaume Laurant, who takes the credit for writing the screenplay for Amélie.

4. Julie & Julia on Netflix

Food lovers, you must watch this one. The movie fiddles between the lives of two women — Julie Powell played by Amy Adams and Julia Child played by Meryl Streep. Director Nora Ephron beautifully chalks down a delightful narrative from two different books, which are Julia Child’s My Life in France and Julie Powell’s Julie & Julia: My Year of Cooking Dangerously

5. Killing Eve on Amazon Prime Video

This one is a delight to watch. It’s a chase game between MI6 operative Eve Polastri played by Sandra Oh and assassin Villanelle played by Jodie Comer, who eventually grow obsessed with each other. The story takes you to Villanelle’s apartment in Paris and shows around her neighbourhood.

6. Ratatouille on Netflix

This Disney film narrates the story of Remy, a rat who nurtures the dream of being a chef in Paris, the world’s gourmet capital. Yes, as weirdly happy as it may sound, that’s the gist of this movie. The ever-so-beautiful portrayal and narrative of the movie make it a must-watch.

7. The Devil Wears Prada on Hotstar

Chances are you might have already watched this classic, or know about it, but that cannot keep it away from our list. The movie is a blunt exposure into the world of glamour, glitz, and fashion. The performances by Anne Hathway and Meryl Streep are powerful, compelling, and moving. While the movie is a delightful watch, a part of it is shot in Paris.
