Raksha Bandhan 2020 surely fell under unusual circumstances this year, but our relationship with our siblings remains the same. So on this Raksha Bandhan, here are five multi-cultural movies that you can binge-watch with your other half. By Amitha Ameen
1. Dil Dhadakne Do

Now, this one is a perfect family flick. The movie follows the narrative of a wealthy but dysfunctional family who invites their friends on a cruise. While each of the characters has memorable and relatable roles, what we really related with though, was the sibling relationship between Priyanka Chopra and Ranveer Singh. The portrayal of their relationship in the movie reminds us of all the times our sibling rescued us out of a sticky situation or gave us some really good advice and a solid shoulder to cry on. With plenty of laughs, romances, and gorgeous destinations, this one is a winner.

2. Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events

This one is our personal favourite. Leaving aside Jim Carrey’s stellar acting skills, what really warmed our hearts was the beautiful relationship between the three siblings. Violet, Klaus, and their baby sister are left with an impossible task when they are suddenly orphaned and sent to live with a distant relative whom they have never met. The story follows the trio who use their individual skills to overcome a series of unfortunate events. Without giving away too much, we can tell you that this one will be a big hit with the family.

Is there anyone who hasn’t watched this adventure classic? While we were enthralled by the magnificence of ancient Egypt and the many mysteries that were beautifully portrayed throughout this blockbuster film, the sub-plot that focussed on the squabbling siblings played by Rachel Weisz and John Hannah is what caught our eye. The brother-sister relationship is perfectly intertwined with the main plot of the movie and provides the balance it needs.

This super-hit movie by Mollywood stars Nazriya Nazim, Dulquer Salman, Nivin Pauly, and Fahadh Faasil in the lead roles is a must-watch! The film follows the storyline of three cousins — Nazim, Salman, and Pauly as they navigate life and its tribulations. The movie beautifully portrays the closeness and openness between the three and depicts the deep bond they share with each other while showcasing the city of Bengaluru in a never-before-seen light. This movie is close to our hearts. The plot follows the story of Joshua, played by Prithviraj, who returns to his homeland, in Ooty, after many years, and the magical journey he embarks on through the eyes of his younger sister Jenny (Nazriya Nazim). The soul of the movie remains Jenny, and be warned that the end is a true tearjerker.
